Governor Gavin Newsom has signed Sen. Nancy Skinner’s SB 348, Healthy Meals for Kids, making California the first state in the nation to codify President Joe Biden’s new federal guidelines on school nutrition standards aimed at reducing sugar and salt in school meals.




Governor Gavin Newsom has signed Sen. Skinner’s SB 274, which is designed to keep kids in school by prohibiting the suspension of TK through 12 students for low-level behavior issues known as “willful defiance.”




Gov. Gavin Newsom has signed Sen. Skinner’s legislation, SB 54, which brings transparency to venture capital investments in California and is designed to help more women- and minority-owned startups access vital VC funding. SB 54 is the first such transparency measure in the nation.




Gov. Gavin Newsom today signed Senator Skinner’s SB 345, a shield law that provides legal protections for health care practitioners located in California who provide or dispense medication or other services for abortion, contraception or gender-affirming care to out-of-state patients.
