Summer Break Free Meals Available in West Contra Costa

Dear West Contra Costa County Residents

Thanks to state budget action that I initiated, California became the first state in the nation to offer two free meals each day to all K-12 public school students. Now that schools are on summer break, kids can still get free meals at many locations throughout our communities.

Below is a list of the free summer meals sites in West Contra Costa County that are open Monday through Friday (unless otherwise specified) to all youth 18 and under. For each site, we list the times that meals are offered.

A New Summer Food Program!

In addition, starting this summer, families in California can buy more food for their children with California SUN Bucks, also called Summer-EBT.

Children who qualify for free or reduced-price school meals through a school meal application or an Alternative Income Form, or whose family already receives CalFresh, CalWORKs, or Medi-Cal benefits, are automatically enrolled. These families will be mailed SUN Bucks cards starting mid-June. SUN Bucks provides $40 per month for food for June, July and August 2024 ($120 total). Detailed information available at California SUN Bucks.

I hope you find this information helpful. It is an honor serving you in the state Senate.
