Sen. Skinner Issues Statement on Her Appointment as Housing Chair and Continued Role on the Senate Budget Committee as Chair, Emeritus

California state Sen. Nancy Skinner, D-Berkeley, today issued the following statement on Senate Committee assignments announced by Senate President pro Tempore Mike McGuire, D-North Coast:

“I am honored to be named chair of the Housing Committee by Senate President pro Tempore McGuire and to have a continued role on the Budget and Fiscal Review Committee as chair, emeritus. I also congratulate my good friend Senator Scott Wiener for his appointment as chair of the Budget Committee. Although California is facing a challenging budget year in 2024, I know that President pro Tempore McGuire, Sen. Wiener, and the Senate Budget Committee are fully prepared to meet that challenge and ensure that we protect the progress we’ve made in creating a more equitable economy for all.”

“Housing and homelessness are also, without a doubt, top issues facing our state, and I look forward to continuing Sen. Wiener’s outstanding work to remove barriers to creating more housing, especially affordable housing, so that Californians are no longer forced to live on our streets.”

Sen. Skinner represents the 9th Senate District and is chair of the Senate Housing Committee and the California Legislative Women’s Caucus.
