California requires Uber, Lyft to switch mostly to electric cars by 2030
State Sen. Nancy Skinner, D-Berkeley, spearheaded the effort to require ride-hailing companies to ditch gas-guzzlers. She said the rules are crucial because emissions from the transportation sector have been growing in California.
“We have a great opportunity here to have this significant revolution in transportation be a clean revolution, rather than one that is high emissions,” she said.
