Small Fixes for Safer Homes

Greetings,

Wildfire-prepared home upgrades do not have to be expensive. A few targeted improvements can help reduce ember risk and strengthen your home’s defenses.

Fact: Most homes lost to wildfire are not ignited by flames. They ignite from embers that can travel ahead of a fire and find soft spots in your home’s defenses.

All Californians should make sure to have a wildfire action plan and ensure that they and their loved ones are prepared in case they need to evacuate.

Homeowners can additionally consider creating defensible space, hardening their home, building a fire smart landscape, and looking into landowners assistance.
