State senator calls for audit of Alameda County sheriff’s office after ‘troubling reports’

State Senator Nancy Skinner has joined in on the efforts to call for an audit of the Alameda County sheriff’s office, amidst recent controversies, including a woman who gave birth in jail cell alone.

Skinner, D-Berkeley, sent the letter to Alameda County Board of Supervisors President Richard Valle last month, pointing out the “troubling reports” and asking for the board to support community interest in a financial and performance audit of the sheriff’s office.
