Summer Break Free Meals Available in Oakland and San Leandro

Dear Oakland and San Leandro Residents,

Thanks to state budget action that I initiated, California became the first state in the nation to offer two free meals each day to all K-12 public school students. Now that schools are on summer break, kids can still get free meals at many locations throughout our communities.

Below is a list of the free summer meals sites in Oakland and San Leandro that are open Monday through Friday to all youth 18 and under. For each site, we list the times the meals are offered.

Children who qualify for free or reduced-price school meals through a school meal application or an Alternative Income Form, or whose families already receive CalFresh, CalWORKs, or Medi-Cal benefits, are automatically enrolled, and will be mailed SUN Bucks cards starting mid-June. SUN Bucks provides $40 per month for food for June, July and August 2024 ($120 total). Detailed information available at California SUN Bucks.
