Dear Neighbors,
Less than a week into 2018, many District 9 residents were awakened by the first earthquake of the year. This small shock was a reminder of the risks the East Bay faces from more severe quakes.
One essential thing homeowners can do to prepare for larger quakes in the future is to secure homes to their foundations. Thankfully, many East Bay residents who own vulnerable homes have access to state-level resources to help make their homes safer.
The Earthquake Brace + Bolt (EBB) program provides homeowners up to $3,000 to strengthen their foundation and lessen the potential for earthquake damage. For many, this funding could significantly defray the cost of critical seismic upgrades. Homes must be located in eligible zip codes and must meet certain criteria to qualify.
To find out if your home may qualify for Earthquake Brace + Bolt funding and sign up for the EBB program, please visit the EBB webpage.
I hope you take advantage of these resources available to you.
Sincerely,
Nancy Skinner
